Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

Danger:To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or deathwhen major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicleis supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands atthe opposite end from which the components are being removed andstrap the vehicle to the hoist.

Danger:To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury ordeath, always use the jackstands to support the vehicle whenlifting the vehicle with a jack.

Caution:Perform the following steps before beginning any vehiclelifting or jacking procedure:

Remove or secure all of the vehicle contents in order toavoid any shifting or any movement that may occur during thevehicle lifting or jacking procedure.The lifting equipment or the jacking equipment weight ratingmust meet or exceed the weight of the vehicle and any vehiclecontents.The lifting equipment or the jacking equipment must meet theoperational standards of the lifting equipment or jacking equipmentmanufacturer.Perform the vehicle lifting or jacking procedure on a clean,hard, dry, level surface.Perform the vehicle lifting or jacking procedure only at theidentified lift points. DO NOT allow the lifting equipment orjacking equipment to contact any other vehicle components.

Failure to perform the previous steps could result in damageto the lifting equipment or the jacking equipment, the vehicle,and/or the vehicle contents.

Vehicle Lifting-Frame Contact Lift

Front Lift Pads

When lifting the vehicle with a frame-contact lift, place thefront lift pads approximately 12.2-in(310-mm) inboard from the front pinchweldflanges.

Rear Lift Pads

When lifting the vehicle with a frame-contact lift, place therear lift pads 10.0-in (255-mm) inboard fromthe rear pinchweld flanges.

Vehicle Jacking

Note:

Only the left side or the right side of the rear of thevehicle can be lifted at a time when using these jackingpoint.The floor jack pad must not contact the oil pan, splashshield or the steering linkage.

Under the Rear Suspension

Lift the rear of the vehicle by placing the floor jack liftpad on either side of the suspension cradle, inboard and forward ofthe rear suspension, as shown.

Under the Center of the Front Suspension Frame

Lift the front of the vehicle by placing the floor jack liftpad at the center of the front suspension frame, as shown.

Supporting the Vehicle with Jackstands

Place jackstands ONLY under strong and stable vehiclestructures.
