GE-7872Magnetic Base Dial Indicator Set, or equivalent
Note:This measurement procedure is intended to measure torque tuberunout for systems with a constant velocity (CV) joint, rubbercoupling or bolt-on U-joint yoke at the torque tube.
Place the transmission in NEUTRAL.Raise and support the vehicle. Refer toLifting and Jacking the Vehicle. If equipped with a CV joint, measure the torque tube inputflange radial runout on the machined surface of the prop shaft rearCV joint housing, as close to the flange as possible:Clean the surface of the prop shaft rear CV joint housingjust ahead of the torque tube input flange.Mount a dial indicator set,GE-7872Magnetic Base Dial Indicator Set, or equivalent, and position the dial indicator tocontact the prop shaft rear CV joint housing as close to the torquetube input flange as possible. If equipped with a rubber coupling or bolt-on U-joint yoke, measure the torque tube input flange radial runout on the machinedsurface of the flange pilot area:Mark the position of the prop shaft to the torque tube inputflange.Separate the propshaft from the torque tube inputflange.Clean the surface of the flange pilot area.Mount a dial indicator set,GE-7872Magnetic Base Dial Indicator Set, or equivalent, and position the dial indicator tocontact the pilot area as close to the end of the pilot aspossible.Rotate the torque tube input flange by hand to locate the lowspot.Set the dial indicator to zero on the low spot.Rotate the flange by hand and record the amount of radialrunout.Compare the runout of the flange to the runout tolerancespecifications guideline. If the torque tube input flange runout exceeds thespecification, the flange requires replacement.Lane Change Alert (LCA)
If equipped, the LCA system is a
lane-changing aid that assists
drivers with avoiding lane change
crashes that occur with moving
vehicles in the side blind zone (or
spot) areas or with vehicles rapidly
approaching these areas from
behind. The LCA warning display
will light up in the correspo ...
