Removal ProcedureWith the engine OFF, apply and release the brake pedalseveral times until the brake pedal becomes firm to deplete thepower vacuum brake booster vacuum reserve.Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer toIntake Manifold Cover Replacement.
Disconnect the power brake booster vacuum hose quickconnect-(3).Release the power brake booster vacuum hose from the routingclip-(2)-on the power brake booster auxiliarypump.Disconnect the power brake booster auxiliary pump electricalconnector.Release the power brake booster auxiliary pump electricalconnector retainer from the pump bracket.
Remove the power brake booster auxiliary pumpnuts-(1).Remove the power brake booster auxiliary pump.
If removing the power brake booster auxiliary pump bracket,remove the power brake booster auxiliary pump bracketbolts-(1).
Remove the power brake booster auxiliary pumpbracket-(1).Installation Procedure
If removed, install the power brake booster auxiliary pumpbracket-(1).
Caution:Refer toFastener Caution.
Install the power brake booster auxiliary pump bracketbolts-(1)-and tighten to-50-Y(37-lb-ft).Install the power brake booster auxiliary pump to the pumpbracket.Install the power brake booster auxiliary pumpnuts-(1)-and tighten to-9-Y(80-lb-in)
Connect the power brake booster vacuum hose quickconnect-(3).Connect the power brake booster auxiliary pump electricalconnector.Secure the power brake booster auxiliary pump electricalconnector retainer to the pump bracket.Secure the power brake booster vacuum hose from the routingclip-(2)-on the power brake booster auxiliarypump.Install the intake manifold cover. Refer toIntake Manifold Cover Replacement.
Checking Engine Oil
Check the engine oil level regularly,
every 650 km (400 mi), especially
prior to a long trip. The engine oil
dipstick handle is a loop. See
Engine Compartment Overview for the location.
