Chevrolet Equinox Service Manual: Exhaust Manifold Installation (LAF, LEA, or LUK) Exhaust Exhaust Manifold

Caution:Refer toFastener Caution.

Install the secondary air injection pipe assembly-(1).Install the secondary air injection pipe assembly bolts-(2) and tighten to 10-Y-(89-lb-in).

Install the exhaust manifold gasket-(3).Install the exhaust manifold-(2) to the cylinder head.Install NEW exhaust manifold to cylinder head retaining nuts-(1) finger tight.

Tighten the NEW exhaust manifold to cylinder head retaining nuts two passes in sequence:Tighten first pass in sequence to 14-Y (124-lb-in).Tighten final pass in sequence to 14-Y (124-lb-in).

Install the block heater-(1). Tighten the bolt to 10-Y (89-lb-in).

Install the exhaust manifold heat shield-(1).Install the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts and tighten to 9-Y (80-lb-in).

Coat the threads of the oxygen sensor-(1) with antiseize. Refer toAdhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers.Install the oxygen sensor and tighten to 42-Y (31-lb-ft).

Install the secondary air injection studs-(3-and-4) and tighten to 10-Y(89-lb-in).Install the secondary air injection valve assembly-(1) with a NEW gasket-(2).

Install the secondary air injection bolts-(2-and-3) and nuts-(1).Tighten the secondary air injection assembly to cylinder head bolts-(3) to 22-Y(16-lb-ft).Tighten the secondary air injection assembly to pipe assembly bolts-(2) to 10-Y(89-lb-in).Tighten the secondary air injection assembly nuts-(1) to 22-Y(16-lb-ft).
