1 | Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Nut Caution:Refer toFastener Caution. ProcedureUse a wrench in order to hold the stud and prevent the studfrom turning during removal of the steering linkage outer tie rodnut.Replace the nut with a NEW nut.Tighten60-Y(44-lb-ft) |
2 | Steering Linkage Inner Tie Rod Nut ProcedureUse paint in order to place match marks on the steeringlinkage inner tie rod nut and on the steering linkage inner tierod.During installation, align the match marks.Do not tighten the nut during installation. Tighten the nutafter adjusting the front toe. Refer toWheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment. |
3 | Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Caution:Do not free the ball stud by using a pickle fork or awedge-type tool. Damage to the seal or bushing may result. ProcedureUse theJ-24319-BPullerin order to separate the steering linkage outer tie rodfrom the steering knuckle.Inspect the steering linkage inner tie rod for bent ordamaged threads.Clean the tapered surface of the steering knuckle.Measure and adjust the front toe. Refer toWheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment.Special Tools J-24319-BSteering Linkage and Tie Rod Puller For equivalent regional tools, refer toSpecial Tools. |
