Cleaning ProcedureRemove any RTV sealant-(1) from the engine frontcover usingEN 28410remover.Clean out debris from the bolt holes.Clean the engine front cover in solvent.

Dry the engine front cover with compressed air.Inspection ProcedureInspect the exterior of the engine front cover for thefollowing conditions:Damage to the water pump bolt holethreads-(7)Gouges or damage to the water pump sealingsurfaces-(6)Damage to the crankshaft front oil sealbore-(5)Damage to the camshaft position actuator valve oil sealbores-(1)Damage to the engine front cover boltholes-(2)Damage and/or corrosion to the engine coolantpassage-(3)Dents or damage to the exterior-(4)
Inspect the interior of the engine front cover for thefollowing conditions:Gouges or damage to the engine front cover sealing surfacesto the engine block-(6), oil pan-(4), and/orcamshaft covers-(2)Damage and/or corrosion to the engine coolantpassage-(5)Damage to the crankshaft front oil seal boreGouges or damage to the O-ring sealingareasGouges or damage to the water pump sealarea-(3)Damage to the engine front cover boltholes-(1)Repair or replace the engine front cover as necessary.

The afterblow mode can be enabled using the scan tool. The afterblow mode allows theblower motor to operate after the engine has been turned off.
