Warning:Refer toHot Exhaust System Warning.

Preliminary ProcedureRemove the catalytic converter heat shield.Refer toCatalytic Converter Heat Shield ReplacementRemove the exhaust flexible pipe. Refer toExhaust Flexible Pipe Replacement.

Catalytic Converter Nuts (Qty:-4)

Caution:Refer toFastener Caution.

Caution:To prevent damage to the exhaust manifold flange or stud,make sure the flange is fully seated before tightening.

ProcedureDisconnect the oxygen sensor electrical connector.Replace the exhaust front pipe nuts and the gasket with newones.Clean and inspect the studs on the engine cylinder head,replace as necessary.Verify that the studs are fully seated. Stud collar shouldtouch the surface of the engine cylinder head.Tighten nuts in a criss-cross pattern.Tighten

First Pass: 20-Y(15-lb-ft)Final Pass: 46-Y(34-lb-ft)

Tip:

If replacing catalytic converter,transfer oxygensensor.Improperly installed and/or leaking exhaust manifold gasketsmay affect vehicle emissions and/or On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) IIsystem performance.
