Preliminary ProceduresDisable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer toSIR Disabling and Enabling.On back side of the steering wheel are 2 circular openings, place the wheel so thatone opening is on top.Using a blunt-ended tool, push the spring fastener inward through the access hole.Repeat the step for the other opening.

Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module

Warning:After installation of the steering wheel airbag module to the steering wheel, slightlypull the module outward. If there is no give on the airbag module then it is securedcorrectly. If the airbag module is not fully attached personal injury could result.

ProcedureRelease the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer.Disconnect the electrical connectors.Refer toInflatable Restraint Module Handling and Scrapping.
